Halloween Special: The Devil’s Stone and the Doodlebug

If you perchance find yourself in Newington and you have a moment then perhaps you want to gaze upon The Devil’s Stone. It sits in the car park of the church.

There are lots of splendid walks in the area and you can wander down from the church following relatively quiet roads and follow footpaths which will take you down to the stream which runs near the church and where the bells landed.

The scene of the doodblebug crash is the bridge which crosses over Oak Lane which leads along to the village of Upchurch.

There is not much to see at RAF West Malling other than the control tower which is now a Costa Coffee in the whole area is know the residential estate Kingshill. The area has numerous places named after Second World War RAF heroes and planes and there is pub called the Spitfire, but it is not good.
